MEASUREMENT OF MARINE TEMPERATURE FIELDS BY PASSIVE ACOUSTIC TOMOGRAPHY (1999-2001)
(Ministero Università Ricerca Scientifica Tecnologica - MURST, Mediterranean Environment Research Program)
The acoustical noise emitted by opportunity ships cruising in a coastal area is received by an hydrophone array deployed in the water column; a subsequent processing developed by the company estimates the sound velocity and temperature fields.
- project co-ordination
- study of acoustical propagation models
- tomographic algorithm synthesis
- experimental validation through data collected in a campaign in the Atlantic ocean.
